Where: New Zealand
When: 24-30th September 2018
Meat Free Week coming in September 2018!
Challenge yourself, your friends, your family and your colleagues to give up meat for a week and raise funds for a great cause!
Going meat free for one week creates a great opportunity to get New Zealanders thinking about how much meat they eat and the impact eating too much meat may have.
With education, awareness and the information to make informed choices, the goal is that for the other 51 weeks of the year meat-eaters will consider portion sizes when including meat as part of a balanced diet.
An initiative of Bowel Cancer Australia, Bowel Cancer New Zealand are delighted to be involved again in this dynamic awareness and fundraising campaign that motivates action as studies show bowel cancer risk increases relative to the amount of red and processed meat consumed.
Studies show bowel cancer risk increases by 17% per 100g of red meat consumed per day; and bowel cancer risk increases by 18% per 50g of processed meat consumed per day.
